Project details:
Barry contacted Eco Installer as he was keen to explore alternatives to his expensive LPG system, which was heating his family home – a converted Pub and an Annex. Roly gave Barry some information of different options over the phone and a visit to the family home in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire was arranged to discover which option would be the best heating system.

Barry has a continuous supply of wood which he was keen to utilise. Roly explained how a Wood Gasification Boiler worked and suggested that this would be the ideal solution to meet the heating and hot water requirements for both his home and Annex. There was sufficient room in the customer’s garage to house the Boiler and a Oval 2000L Accumulator Tank that would make full use of his wood supply.

We recommended an Eco Angus Orligno 200 Wood Gasification Boiler as they have 92% efficiency, burning off all the gases with a minimal ash output. The boilers are exceptionally economical. A 40kW boiler typically uses a similar amount of wood as a conventional log stove and provides infinitely more heat that is stored in the accumulator tank. For best results, well seasoned wood should always be used.

Barry placed an order with us and shortly after Will, Adam and Liam our Apprentice started the installations which took 10 days to complete. To begin with the LPG boiler was disconnected and removed and then the Gasification boiler and buffer tank was positioned in place. The team worked together to connect the boiler to the buffer tank, ready to provide the customers heating and hot water.

Every 3 to 4 days Barry has a burning session which heats the water in the buffer tank providing enough hot water to meet demands for the next 3 to 4 days. There is a temperature stat on the tank which Barry is able to check to see when he needs to relight the boiler.

Following the Wood Gasification Boiler installation, Adam went back to the house to install a new pressurised cylinder, replace several radiators and install new radiators in the cellar.

Barry is delighted with the installation and enjoying cheaper fuel bills and earnings from the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).

“After deciding we needed to do something about the awful LPG heating we had, Roly and Shane did a very comprehensive assessment of our rather large, old and much altered house. Roly spent a lot of time discussing the options and there was never any hesitation in answering my endless questions.

We decided on a log burning boiler for all our heating and hot water needs. The installation was very neat and despite the hurdles the house put in the team’s way, they dealt with everything quickly, efficiently and with a smile.

Roly helped us fill out the paperwork to get the Renewable Heat Incentive, and gave us all the advice we needed to get the boiler running just right.

From beginning to end, and beyond, the whole team have been incredibly helpful and it’s clear they have a real passion for what they do.

I’ve already recommended Eco Installer to friends, and we are now in the process of getting a Solar PV array from them too.” Barry
