Brian gave us a call to see if we could install and configure a Nest 3rd Generation Learning Thermostat at his family home to control the heating and water.
Brian explained that he decided on the Nest 3rd Generation Learning Thermostat as it will learn the temperature he likes the house to be and programmes itself within the first week of installation. Brian was particularly impressed that he could adjust the temperature by simply using the Nest app on his smart phone or watch, tablet or laptop.
An appointment was made for Karl, our electrician to visit the property in Wilburton, Cambridgeshire and install the system.
Karl removed the old thermostat and installed the Nest 3rd Generation Learning Thermostat. Once fitted, the Nest guided Karl through the setup which took just a few minutes. The setup included connecting the system to the cylinder thermostat and receiver, setting required temperatures and linking to the home Wi-Fi. After doing a quick software update and running a test, Karl helped Brian download the free Nest App and created a Nest account.
The sophisticated system has an ‘auto-away’ feature which turns the thermostat down when no one is home to save energy. Unlike some other Smart thermostats, the Nest 3rd Generation also hot controls water.
Brian is pleased with his Nest Smart Thermostat installation and now enjoys having full automation of his heating and hot water system from any location with a Wi-Fi connection. In the short period of having the Nest installed Brian has already noticed a reduction in his energy bills.
Brian is now considering the installation of the Nest Protect (smoke and carbon monoxide alarm) and the Nest Cam (security camera). These connected products are also controlled from the app on Brian’s smart device. Please click here for more information.
