Existing customers Mr & Mrs Baldwin initially met with Roly to discuss eco heating ideas for their family home. After reviewing their needs, Roly suggested infrared heating and arranged for them to visit a trade show to meet the suppliers and watch an infrared heating panel demonstration to see how the technology works. Following the visit, Mr & Mrs Baldwin decided to proceed with infrared as a heating option. The couple also explained that they were keen to update their family bathroom and asked if we could help with the design and installation.
Shane visited the property in Reach, near Newmarket, Suffolk and carried out a site survey to work out the heating requirements and to review the current bathroom. It was decided that three infrared heating panels were needed to comfortably heat the bedrooms and bathroom. Mr & Mrs Baldwin decided to go with an infrared under-floor heating system, which works by producing infrared radiation that travels through the floor straight to the objects in the room.
Infrared heating panels works in a different way to conventional heating, it heats the fabric of the building, and the objects within, instead of heating the air in the room. These objects retain the heat and release this evenly throughout the space, without the problems associated with convection systems that create cold spots, dry hot air and dust.
After researching a range infrared heating panels, Mr & Mrs Baldwin decided to go with ‘Infrared Technologies’ panels as they are maintenance free, easy to clean and are fully guaranteed for 5 years. For added safety they come complete with a built in thermal cut-out and can be easily controlled using our recommended range of electronic air sensing thermostats.
Whilst the infrared heating installation was taking place, Shane went through different bathroom options and together they came up with the perfect design. Mr & Mrs Baldwin decided on a large free standing bath and a walk-in shower with a new basin and toilet. The also chose a designer black infrared heating panel for the bathroom.
The new hot water tank, also infrared, was installed discretely in a purpose built cupboard in the bathroom, one part of the extensive rebuild of the bathroom, before we re-plastered and tiled. The infrared panels, under floor heating and bathroom took just under three weeks to install.
Our customers are pleased with their new heating system and bathroom and are benefiting from gentle natural warmth which is both cost effective and efficient.
